If you are like us and our many of RV guests, your RV is the most important part of your summer experience. It’s important that you winterize your RV before the real cold starts to set in. We have some tips that you should follow to ensure it’s in tip-top shape for your adventures come next summer.
Let’s Winterize Your RV
Sitting Water
You should completely drain and flush your black and grey water tanks before you decide to let your RV sit. Not only will the water freeze, potentially creating cracks and havoc on your pipes. These tanks can become host to a ton of bacteria and mould. Once they are drained, make sure to give them a thorough scrub and remove any excess water.
Water Heaters
Just like your grey and black water tanks, making sure you drain your water heater is equally important. If you leave sitting water, it can create rust and sediment build up. Having to by a new water heater in the summer is not ideal.
Anti-Freeze is Your Friend
Get some antifreeze and pour it down every drain, sinks, toilets and showers. There will always be standing water in these pipes, but by adding a tiny amount of anti-freeze you can ensure that it won’t freeze and crack.
One Final Clean
Go over every inch of the inside of your RV and remove anything that doesn’t belong. If you leave food or crumbs behind, you invite yourself to be invaded by mice or other vermin. There is nothing worse than seeing your couch cushions eaten apart! The same goes for the outside, give that RV a good scrub down and maybe invest in a cover.
We can’t wait to have you and your RV back at Camp Rocky Mountain House next year. Book a seasonal site now to get ahead of the game!
